Hi,
I currently use a non-IPS panel for web browsing, gaming and photo editing. RAW file editing takes over 80% of the monitor usage. I'm now ready to buy an IPS panel and budget is less than $400.
Following are the monitors that I have short listed :
Asus PA248Q
.
Edit.... the PA246Q is wide gamut. PA248Q is standard sRGB gamut.
This is a WIDE Gamut model. The others are a standard sRGB gamut. If you are confident that you are on top of best practices in color management, then this model may suffice. Many novice users have issues with over saturated colors (reds notably) with wide gamut monitors and think they have a faulty monitor. Its' not the monitor, its the software used to view images.

HP ZR2440q
.
HP ZR2440w ... w not q
.
Dell U2412m
I like the Asus model but have read a few posts complaining about back-light bleeding (is it a big deal? I don't use these in dark) and 1/3 right side exhibiting pink color when background is white.
.
Almost all the mid to low end IPS paneled monitors with LCD panels supplied by LG Display are prone to showing this tinting. RED on LEFT and GREEN on the RIGHT. It is NOT limited to just ASUA models.
For most it is only really noticeable with a screen that is ALL white or light gray. The centre of the screen usually is untinted.
My U2412M exhibits a slight bit of this. Very slight and only noticeable with an all white or gray screen.
