Tamron 28-75 f2.8 ($500) OR Nikkor 24-85 f.3.5-4.5 VR ($600)

While looking around for a walk around mid-range zoom for street photography, I stumbled upon the Tamron 28-75 2.8. I haven't heard much about this lens. Any opinions on it? The reviews on IQ seem really positive. Only cons I've read are noisy motor + slow AF and slight loss of sharpness on the corners shot wide open.

Really considering picking it up as opposed to the equally raved about Nikkor 24-85 f3.5-4.5 VR.I don't need VR (don't shoot video), or the extra reach of the Nikkor. Build quality seems about the same for both lenses. I like the option of doing low/available light photography with the Tamron. I can compare stats all day long, just wanted some opinions from owners/photographers.
