There is a way, but may require some free work by becoming the team photographer. If you haven't already, establish a relationship with the coaching staff and offer your services. The goal is to get your foot in the door and see what develops. I have used this tactic at some of our local motorsports short tracks. I approach the promotor for access to their track with a quid pro quo of photos from the event. From that point, I have the opportunity to establish my credibility with teams, sponsors, etc.
