single off-camera flash

I used my new Canon 600  mounted on 2 foot stick with a diffuser.

I hold the Canon flash in one hand to the side and high wall snapping the picture in the right-hand.

unfortunately I have no assistance...  and even when I do; it is difficult to have them executed precisely what's on my mind.
