16-35 f4 VR or 17-35 f2.8

In the old days, 35 mm SRL times, f2.8 was an absolute necessity because ISO 400 slide or film already pushed grain. The gear you now have, does not need the 2.8 lenses and with VR, you anyway have 3-3 EV gain. I have the 16-35 f/4 and it is a beaut lens. I use it for landscapes as i do not photograph people. Even if cost is not a question, F/4 lens are popping up more and more because it can do the same as the f/2.8 lenses under most circumstances.
