Very urgent opinion needed

I've been offered an Epson 4800 in good working condition with quite a bit of ink for less than a quarter of the price of a new 4880. It is claimed that it has printed about 6000 13x19 inch prints. All things being equal where in this printers average life span would you say it is? I have a 3800 and I might consider that quite a lot for one of those but the 4800 is a lot more heavy duty. What do you think? I need to know in a couple of hours.
