Auto ISO on 5D2?

I have a 5D MkII. I have never used Auto ISO, as I never saw a need for it. But I got to thinking:
How exactly does the camera determine the ISO when set to Auto ISO? Does it factor in the focal length? Image stabilization? Does the mode affect it (Av, Tv, M)?
