Gymnastic - how to gain access to the competion floor ?

Dear Pros..

My son is competing in gymnastics (10 year old, Michigan) and I would like to gain access to take better pictures from him and from his team. I heard that I need to apply for a certification class, but I can't figure it out. On the USA Gymnastics web site it has one course (U101: Safety & Risk Management) but it is not clear if this entitles you to be on the floor or it does not state anything related to photography.

Anyone willing to share his/her expertise ? I'm not trying to compete with the pros, just trying to document the best I can my son's team competition during this season and share the photos with family and friends.
