D5200 released but not in the US

There might be some good reasons why Nikon releases D5200 in Europe and Asia but not in the US (not until January 2013). I cannot help myself but offer a conspiracy theory

This year American consumers generated so much negative publicity for Nikon with D800 left-AF problem and D600 oil/dust issue that it negatively impacted the sales of those cameras. To spare themselves the grievances of dealing with the wrath of American consumers all over again the Nikon management decided to use Asian and European markets as guinea pigs before introducing flawless camera to American market sometimes next year
