Romney was even lying to himself.

The guy doesn't even know when he's lying, even if he's lying to himself.

"Intellectually I felt that we're going to win this, and I've felt that for some time...I not only think we're going to win intellectually but I feel it as well."  -- Mitt Romney

The polls didn't give him that impression, he was just deluding himself to make himself feel better.

Here's Romney's final lying ad:

"Under President Obama, GM cut 15,000 American jobs, but they are planning to double the number of cars built in China, which means 15,000 more jobs for China. And now comes word that Chrysler is starting to build cars in, you guessed it, China," the ad says. "Mitt Romney — he'll stand up for the auto industry. In Ohio, not China."

GM's response:
""At this stage, we're looking at Hubble telescope-length distances between campaign ads and reality. GM's creating jobs in the U.S. and repatriating profits back to this country should be a source of bipartisan pride," GM spokesman Greg Martin said."
Exaggerations and stretches of the truth have regrettably become the norm for political advertising, but just flat-out lying - saying stuff you know to be untrue about your opponent or his policies - is not something I've seen before in anywhere near the levels we saw from the Romney campaign.
