I take your point, and would agree that doing the fix post-capture is annoying, frustrating, and time consuming. My general point is that it can, for the most part, be done.

I perceive a lot of comments on this site relating to sensor oil/dust as being almost a life and death situation. Whereas I see it as being part of the process of owning a digital capture device that will get marks on it sooner or later. Time will tell how often I and others will need to clean their sensors and my experience thus far, with both Canon and Nikon equipment, is that it does need done fairly regularly - especially if changing lenses is a common occurrence.

Being a semi-professional, portraits and weddings, workflow speed can be a real issue and agree that fixing marks on the photos is a step I'd rather not have to do. But it can done, and for the most part most clients wouldn't even notice it.
