The GH2 has a resolution of 4608x3456 in 4:3 mode and 4976x2800 in 16:9 mode, which means the GH2 doesn't use the whole sensor when recording video (which would be the case if the sensor would have a 16:9 sized sensor)
I think you'll find the GH2 has a 4:3, 16:9 and 3:2 sensor.
How else would you get a perfect 4976:2800 16:9 ratio with no upscaling?
So... it has 3 sensors?
Or just one which is slightly bigger than most m43 sensors?
And what's perfect about 4976:2800? that 2800 is a round number? To produce 1920x1080 footage you still have to downsize it, same thing with the 4608x2592 resolution from the GH3, which by the way is (when you do the math) is even closer to a 16:9 resolution...
It's pretty obvious that for you MAR is the defining feature of the GH2, and you can't get over the fact that the GH3 hasn't got it.
But from the math of things the GH3 should deliver perfectly fine video, only not as wide (which means zooming out or step one step back.
After all, using an even smaller portion of the GH2 sensor in teleconverter mode doesn't hurt the quality of the GH2, why shouldn't the same hold true for the GH3?
