It's a margin X volume calculation. If overall you make more margin $ by selling more volume at a lower margin per sale it can be worthwhile. Of course the impact on margin of pulling sales from other models would need to be considered and if the overall impact is positive. Also if it pulls more people into the Canon system that helps the overall margin.
