It's possible that the Lightroom update has revealed the problem by using additional hardware. Did they add (or extend) GPU acceleration in 4.2 for OS X? Is your OS and GPU driver set up to date? That'd be one avenue to explore, or try disabling GPU acceleration in Lightroom.
Thanks feed she feedback. I think you may be right in that whatever is happening in LR v 4.2 is just bringing an issue to the surface. That said, this wasn't an issue until the 4.02 update so there is definitely something in that update that is pushingmug old IMac to the edge.
Can you instruct me on disabling GPU acceleration in LR?
