Motherboard model, or system model,
How much ram and speed of processor before someone could give you good advise as to what to do.
Hi Richard, sorry for not providing that information beforehand. I really appreciate your help with this.
I have a pre-built Dell XPS 435T, the motherboard is Dell "proprietary" but looks very similar if not identical to this one:http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Dell-Studio-XPS-9000-435T-Motherboard-X501H-/400237165955
The processor is a Core i7-920, 6GB (6x1GB) RAM (nothing is overclocked).
Upon import, I always render 1:1 previews of my 12MP RAW files. I'm simply hoping I can squeeze some extra performance out of my computer to speed up thumbnail load times, image load times when switching between different images, and general image editing smoothness (i.e. adding multiple brush layers in LR).
I typically work on a set of client images for 1-2 weeks before moving on to the next project. 1:1 previews are set to be discarded after 30 days, and my catalog file is a tremendous 1.3GB.
Cheers,
