D800 exposure problem in live view

For some reason my D800 is no longer able to select long exposure times in aperture priority mode when in live view. The longest times I get are about 2-3sec. If I stop down further the shutter speed display on the rear screen starts to blink (at 2-3 sec) and if I take a picture it is underexposed.
Without live view everything is fine and shutter speeds up to 30 sec are available. I can't figure out what is going on. Did I change a setting or is the camera broken?
Mine is the same, with the blinking.
But, I usually use Manual mode when using LiveView. The LV Histogram is a very useful feature.
I've noticed too, when comparing AP and M in LiveView, with the same shutter speed and f stop.
The image being displayed is brighter (matching the final image), with the Histogram "levels" covering the entire range in M mode.
But, with AP, the displayed LV image is fairly dark (darker than the final taken image), with the Histogram dropping back to the left, as you'd expect.
And finally, looking at the final images, the Manual version is correct and the AP version is slightly darker (using the same settings for both).
So, I'd recommend Manual mode when using LiveView, especially using the live Histogram feature.-- hide signature --
Yes, this seems to be what my camera is also doing. M mode works fine.
The strange thing is that I really think AP mode used to work normally for long exposures with live view. Maybe I'm mistaken. Thanks for the reply.
