D600 and (real) HDR capture

Hi,
After 4.5 years I've decided to switch from my beloved D300 to the FX wagon.
I do quite a lot HDR, capturing sets of 5 (most of the time) or 7 1EV spaced bracketed RAW captures to be processed in LR/Photomatix Pro.
I'd rather take the D600 (over the D800) and spend the difference on some glass, given that I can produce even better HDR shots (compared with those from the D300). I know that the D600 is limited to sets of max 3 bracketed shots, but these can be 3EV apart-so, theoretically, i should be "covered" in the vast majority of scenes. Yet, I'd love to hear your experience along with sample shorts, of D600 captures HDR samples (I mean HDR processing during post processing, not in-camera).
thanks
