Hi guys,

I took a test shot with my 7D using a 70-200 IS f4 which I have owned for a couple of years

and came up with this strange blurring. I took the 70-200 off and put the 24-105 lens on and it was fine. Swapped back over with the 70-200 and it's good again!

I don't know if it was dirty contacts.? Don't think so.. Has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks guys..

When the IS is not operating, or with it switched off, the IS compensation group should be parked and held rigidly at 90 degrees to the sensor. If for some reason that is not happening due to wear or damage then you could get results like you are getting. This might be intermittent. Best to get it checked out by Canon.

Thanks guys.  Looks like it will be going to Canon..
