Focus hunting with 100-300 mm zoom on a GH2
Nov 6, 2012

Howdy, I've been playing around with this lens while trying to take photos of my backyard birds. What should be an easy capture turns frustrating because I am not able to lock onto my subject easily in AFS mode. Have tried dropping into Manual Focus, but zooming in on something is slow (unlike a traditional SLR) and by the time I find my point, the subject is usually gone.

Was wondering what metering settings you folks use, and whether there is some combination of AF/MF I can employ. Right now I believe I have it set to Center for meter. I am still learning this camera after owning it for quite awhile, so forgive my questions.

I tried doing a search in this forum for my issues, but my search terms didn't yield anything helpful. So any info is appreciated.
