As it happens I have a degree in chemistry, so know full well the properties of fluorine.
But when we write about these things, we have to live with the fact that Canon call the stuff 'Fluorine' coating. Of course it's really a fluorinated polymer, much like the non-stick coatings on frying pans. But pointing that out in a preview would arguably be a long way off-topic.
