Are you using a software approach optimized for the AMD? Is this a solution that is not available with the i5, or if video rendering is key, with a gfx card?

Any time the software can be optimized for the AMD I use it that way. Elements cannot be (if I remember correctly).

Nero Vision recognizes the AMD stuff and uses it. (a little box comes up at the bottom of the screen and says AMD while it converts.

TMPGenc MPG EDIT is just plain fast and smooth on both systems. (it only works with mpg files though).
