Does Nikon have affordable, non- f/2.8 FX 70-200 lenses?

I'm scoping a move from Canon. Have investigated the 35mm and 85mm primes, but I would need to replace my much-loved Canon 70-210 f/3.5-4.5 non-IS zoom. This lens is nearly as sharp as the Canon 70-200 series (the f/4 and f/2.8) but cost a fraction. It has USM, and since I use it with flash, I don't care about the IS.
I can't seem to find an equivalent in Nikon -- even amongst the older lenses, but I'm just learning Nikon lenses, so maybe I'm missing something. Is there a Nikon-branded lens I should consider, or are my options here to look to third party?
(If anyone feels the need to ask why I'm considering a switch, it's mainly about ergonomics and controls. I continue to be frustrated with the 5D controls and buttons, but having used a friend's D700, I really found it fit like a glove).
So, I am just looking to see if there are lenses I can move to.
Thanks for any help.
