I've never had a problem removing CA with Photoshop. But I don't have the 28-300mm lens either, although I don't know why that would make a difference. And you've tried the manual CA tools under the filter menu?
A tool I used to use all the time before Photoshop got the lens correction built into ACR was PTLens by ePaperPress. I still use it for those lenses not covered by ACR. It works very wellbut requires a small fee.
