My major comment on Scott's blog post is that it mostly talks about the quantitative aspects of the cameras and not the qualitative. It seems like everyone gets caught up in the "Do you need 36mp" argument. The number of photographers who NEED 36mp is probably the same as the number of photographers who can afford a Leica S2. They also talk about the number of autofocus or metering sensors. Again, for MOST people, these are not significant differences.

I own a D300. I rented a D600 this past weekend for a workshop I attended. I found some of the controls to be a bit clunky, but I'm sure I'd get used to them in a few weeks.  If I was a pro, I might feel that the extra effort it takes to manage the camera isn't worth the savings. I think for most people (90%+), the ergonomics and controls are the critical difference.

And heck, the D600 has some features that are lacking in the D800!
