While Sony are really starting to become the camera powerhouse, sensors for every format, stills and video, Panasonic seems to be repeatedly missing the target. I really fear for Panasonic, knowbody really cares for its sensors anymore and the whole range line-up, stills and video is looking decidedly without direction. Are the financial woes really taking their toll or has it lost its ambition, whichever, they seem devoid of anything cutting edge at the moment.

M4/3 is a great system, with an array of plusses and minuses. I see few missteps from either Panasonic or Olympus… maybe those $100 lens hoods and $300 premiums for black lenses.

The lens selection from all the M4/3 partners is impressive (forget the throw-away kit lenses) and the only major shortcoming is a lack of a true rangefinder style body with a built-in viewfinder like the NEX 6 or 7. But according to rumor, those may be coming soon-ish.

So, why bother?
