Hello, thanks for the comment.  The Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 is ideal for people / events / family shooting because of the medium telephoto range and the fixed aperture.  28mm is wide enough for groups of 2 or 3 people, and 75mm is fine for portraits.

As a general purpose walkaround lens it isn't wide enough of course - for that I use the DA 16-45.  But the IQ is excellent (almost all these pics were shot at f/3.2, just one-third of a stop down from wide open) - by f/5.6 I can't see any significant difference between the Tamron and my 35mm f/2.8 Ltd.  You won't get f/2.8 at 75mm anywhere else for such a modest cost.  I strongly recommend it if you do a lot of people shooting.
