Exposure hasn't changed but if you used to shoot print film and have it processed and printed commercially they would have been adjusting the exposure at the print stage.

Try this, put your camera in AV mode and take a shot of an all white subject, your image will be grey. Now dial in +2ev adjustment andd it should be almost white if not white. Now do the same with an all black subject but dial in -2EV on your second shot.

If you still have a lightmeter hanging around take an incident reading before taking the shots and it should tie in roughly with each of your second shots.
