DC Monuments at Night with a A65
Nov 5, 2012

A great time to visit the DC memorials is late at night. No crowds...and some good opportunities for photography. I was using a tripod (of course) with my A65 and CZ 16-80. I kept the ISO low in two of the images, so some of the exposures are quite long. The one at the Korean War Memorial was 25 seconds! I used the flip out screen because it so convenient, but the light is dim at the Viet Nam Memorial so focusing was tough. I had to zoom 2x and go to manual focus as it would not AF in the near dark, even with the lit Washington Monument in the background. The other two (Korean and reflected Washington Monument) the AF worked ok. I did NOT look through the view finder at the Viet Nam Memorial, but should have as it may have allowed for easier focusing....next time.
