Getting Frustrated Taking Child Photos, Want to Quit Sometimes

FWIW, I have a hard time photographing my family as well. And I consider myself a really, really good photographer. I hire someone else to do it now or swap with another photog as needed (this is not a new phenomenon).

Thing is, I am part of the family and, as such, should expect this.

My advice? Do what you would normally do with other subjects. Ask them nicely to pose as a photographer (not as a father) and if they won't, move on and save your blood pressure for something more important.

Have you considered handing the kids your kit and posing for them?
