Just ordered sd1 for $1799.00
Just ordered sd1 from B&H for $1799.00. IWill be going to Lake Tahoe in a couple of weeks hope to getsome great shots. Have owend sd9,10 & 14 skiped 15. Any tips as to changes from older sd cameras? Thanks Ray
In the older cameras I usually shot at 0.0ev to -0.7 ev.
With the SD-1, mostly shoot at 0.0ev to +0.7ev. It's important to overexpose a bit, you have much better highlight recovery so even if the preview looks a little blown out the RAW converted image will be fine.
You can reduce contrast in the camera settings to -1.0 or so, to better judge overexposure - but then the JPG versions will be somewhat flat.
Also if you have a CF card you have been using for a while, consider a faster CF card - the SD-1M cannot write at the fastest speeds but older CF cards can slow it down a good bit. I've bought the Duracell cards and have had very good luck with them.
