I have the original 18-200 and use it almost all the time. It certainly offers advantages over the kit lens in sharpness, build quality, image stabilization and, obviously, range, if you need it. That said, it is bulky, heavy and rather out of proportion to the NEX cameras. As much as I've come to rely on the 18-200 and can thoroughly recommend it, I'd sooner have a more compact 18-125, or better yet a 15/16-125, if Sony made one.
