Could someone explain why G1x price jumped so much lately?

I was keeping an eye on it, debating between buying it, or a Panny, or the Sony (I'm sure I'm not alone there) and noticed the price leap back up to full...

I know I am not the only one who thought the full price was a bit steep, and I saw the lowering of the price, over time, down one hundred and fifty dollars or so...so WHAT made them think they'll sell more by bumping it back up?

Is this part of the overall price strategy leading into the holidays?  If someone knows, for example, what 'Canon/Nikon/Panasonic/Sony do every year', price wise, I'd be obliged if they let me know, so I can shop more effectively.
