copying boot drive problems

I'd like to hear more about this as I recently did an imaging of my SSD with the Macrium free package.  I really know nothing about this, but it did seem to work fine in the sense that there were no warnings and it did create a system file.  Of course I haven't tried to restore using that file which is why I'd like to know whether I need to rethink my strategy.
