If you are used to the speed and accuracy of the OMD and Nikon 1, the XE1 + 35/1.4 is not even close, especially in less than ideal lighting situation. Used to have a V1 and Xpro1, and now have the OMD and XE1. With the XE1, one just needs to be patient and calculated when using the XE1. Maybe things will be different with the 2nd generation of Fuji's lenses like the 18-55 and 14/2.8. I hope so!

I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this with their XE1 + 35/1.4, but (like the XPro1) C-AF locks on to less contrasty subjects much better than S-AF.

I didn't experience much of a difference using or not using the AF assist lamp.

Ultimately, if speedy AF under poor lighting is a priority, I'd avoid the XE1 -- at least with the 35/1.4 combo. That being said, the XE1 rewards the user with class leading image quality.
