Using 70-200 vr 1 on FX Body?
Nov 3, 2012

Reviews I've read indicate the 70-200 VR 1 vignettes badly and is soft at borders on FX bodies. Who uses this combo,  and just how bad is it really? I'd be mostly shooting wildlife with it, but certainly portraiture,  and other uses as well.  I see that a used VR 1 can be picked up at decent prices on ebay.  In a perfect world, the VR2 would be the ticket but the price tag is a bit steep for me. Would I be better off with the new f/4 VR? (rhetorical question, as who knows at this point since it's not released) I'd be using it on a d800 btw.

Thanks,

David
