people like us need that second dial. a sensor limits a small percentage of your most demanding shots. having only one dial limits all of your shots.

Yep.
But personally, I don't get it. I would either get a less expensive camera (no point overpaying for a camera with the ancient 12MP sensor), or buy a newer camera with a better sensor.
