Why would I not use the flash? I can prop it up slightly with my index finger while pressing the shutter release with my middle finger. That puts the flash at a 45 degree angle toward the ceiling and creates bounce flash. I do fairly often take pictures of people indoors at night. The ability to take such pictures with bounce flash means no more red eye and all the other benefits of bounce flash. I am not using the camera in a professional studio, but as an all-around camera with which to take all sorts of pictures indoor, outdoor, in good light, and in not so good light as well. The popup flash was one of the most important selling points of the camera for me.
