While other companies are experimenting with one or two models, Olympus is going all-in on micro four thirds (PEN and OMD).  Those cameras are where they appear to be putting their research, and their glass is some of the best in the industry (in the right hands).  They are building a new system, not a bridge camera for their bigger camera owners.  Of course they are attempting to make the migration for their pro users as painless as possible too (E-M7 perhaps????).

If they abandon the PENS and OMD, it will be because they are shutting that division down completely (not likely at the moment  ).

Especially in cases like Sony, I fear their commitment to any particular product could change with the tides.
