If you use Nikon DSLR cameras D200 or newer, you can use it in CLS mode. Easy to use and it is iTTL controlled. You use the onboard flash to trigger the SB600, if you use a dedicated IR filter in front of the onboard flash there is no eye blinking generated by the pre flash.
