A99 Manual movie mode cannot set aperture and shutter speed!

I just cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. The manual (A77/A99) says if you choose manual (M) mode on the top dial and set the lens to be manually focused, you can choose your shutter speed and aperture. So I set all of those, press the movie record button and it still reverts back to the wide-open aperture and whatever shutter speed IT picks. What am I doing wrong? I just want to be able to set aperture and shutter speed - at least aperture for movies! Thanks, Bill
