There is quite a difference between taking photos of insects and getting a PhD in evolutionary biology!

Charles Darwin was, of course, an amateur. He earned a degree in theology in 1831 from Cambridge University. As a student he was a noted collector of beetles and had the nickname of "Beetling Darwin."
