No, Nikon's active D is sumilar to Canon's Auto Lighting optimizer.

HTP is simply pushing the exposure by one stop, and it is reflected in the embedded jpg. It is exacly what Nikon Should have included into the D800. In fact, HTP and sRAW would both be bettee suited to the D800 than any other camera out there. It's a shame Nikon didn't copy Canon there.
