Cape Breton and Louisbourg
Nov 1, 2012

Sorry for not posting photos, I don't like the fact that you can't see them properly anymore without having to click on the "original size" link

Here are 2 more galleries from my 2 week whirlwind tour (Vacation) of the Canadian Maritimes.

It starts with the beach by the cabins we stayed in in Inverness on the northwest side of Cape Breton Island. then the wonderful landscapes of the Cabot Trail. It was gusty that day with gusts up to 125km/h IIRC. The surf was big the clouds were all part of Hurricane Leslie as it hit Newfoundland. At one of out stops on the Cabot Trail I was wandering down a path when I got past a couple bushes and there it was, our first moose sighting of the trip. I ran back to the van and grabbed my Magnicon(Tokina) 70-210mm F4.5 lens. My cousin thought I might have been running from a bear LOL. Anyhow the photos of the moose who was quite co-operative are towards the end of the gallery and the last photos are just north of North Sydney.

Now our next stop was Louisbourg on the southeast shore of Cape Breton Island, we stayed for a very short night at a 4.5 star bed and breakfast. the next morning we went to see the Louisbourg fort. It is a large fort that is only 1/6th represented today from what it was at its peak. It was fought over many times in the 1700s, the people are all in costume and give you great information about the era, we had traditional food of the time and ate using traditional bowls and utensils. there was a lot to see there and definitely worth going back to if i'm in the area again. Those barn swallows let me get real close, I took the photo at 70mm no cropping. The last photos in this gallery are of the Louisbourg lighthouse, I think its their 5th lighthouse with 4 previously being destroyed.

Do Enjoy!
