How good/bad actually is the Nikkor 24-120 f4 VR?

I am repeatedly amazed by the negative things I read on this forum about the 24-120 f/4.  I've had my copy for over a year and have been very pleased with it.  I took it and two other lenses to Europe this spring.  I almost never took the 24-120 off the camera body because it was so versatile.  IMO it's the best walk around lens in the current Nikon stable of lenses.  I rarely get anything other than good IQ with it; when I do get a different result, it's my fault!
