X100, Is there any serial numbrs that are safe from SAB?

I said, give me an example of a company that publishes *the number of defective units*, not an example of a company that has issued a recall like Toyota (where they may be obliged to state the number of affected units as part of a safety recall). In your specific case, we've already ascertained that the camera you bought was nearly a year old at the time you got it new because you said it was a 12xxxxxx serial number, i.e. built April-June 2011, and you bought it in March 2012. It's impossible to say now how that came about and it's pointless speculating.
