Do you think iPhoto is useful for jpegs?

I'm using iphoto for my jpegs right now. Do you think other processing software would do a better job?
Right now all I do is a little bit of maybe sharpening or a slight color or contrast adjustment. Not much as I try to get it right in the camera. And I only shoot jpegs.
I also do a little cropping. Is iPhoto okay for that?
