Is it just me or are all web sites NOT taking advantage of wide screen PC monitors?!!

Get tired of always having to scroll down went, this site and most others do not 'adapt' to the width of the users monitors. Narrow and tall on a widescreen (aren't most consumer monitors now widescreen??????) just sucks & wastes so much real estate. Silly!
What year is this 1995?? what happened to smart, adapting web pages? Oh well back to (did we ever leave them) the 1990's huh?!
