will get you to the software/firmware tab to download the latest apps and firmware. Just put in your operating system to get the lists.

The 50D is no longer in product selection so this link takes you to the information from the archived links.

Since the camera can not read the CF card you can do the update for firmware if needed via the EOS Utilities over the camera supplied USB cable.

For those that have Magic Lantern installed that should be removed. Check their docs.

The 50D will not read cards formatted in your PC but doing that might allow the 50D to put its special format on the CF card.

For visual inspection try blowing out gently the card slot area to insure there is no debris blocking the connections.
