Anyone was able to use Canon 580II in Auto mode with XPro-1?

A related question: has anyone been able to use the Canon 580II flash in Auto (thyristor) mode with XPro-1. I am worried what the similar pinout configuration between Canon and Fuji would do to the camera when the wrong brand flash is mounted. Do you need to use a dumb shoe to make it work?
