I like your first image best. I find that 'imperfect' bokeh actually adds something more to an image than ultra smooth bokeh does. Bokeh already destroys part of the context of your subject, and the 'busier' bokeh fills that space, in my mind. You are right the shape of that stump does have a sort of appeal, and good job capturing it.

Also, if your shots don't get comments. Don't fret. It takes time. As for the thumbs, put as much or as little stock into them as you please, but don't comment on the thumb which will then get a thumb and so on ad infinitum.
